AT&T Verizon Communications, a major U.S. telecommunications company, postponed the introduction of the 5G high-speed communication standard in the vicinity of airports, which was scheduled to be expanded on March 19. Airlines concerned about the impact on their operations have been canceling flights to the U.S., and confusion has been spreading. All Nippon Airways (ANA/NH), Japan Airlines (JAL/JL), and Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA/KZ) have returned to normal operations, but there have been impacts such as space constraints. Although excessive disruptions were avoided this time by postponing the expansion of 5G services, it is highly probable that they will eventually be introduced. If a series of inadequate measures are taken and problems arise again, it could lead to similar disruptions.
